Frequently Asked Questions

  • Show & Tell is Photo Saloon’s monthly, in person gathering for women, nonbinary, trans, and gender expansive photographers to come together around images. This is a space to share work or to witness it. A choose your own adventure style event: bring something to show, or come to listen, uplift, and be in the room. Images shared can be messy, quiet, unresolved, tender, or bold. Works in progress are welcome. So are questions, curiosities, and leaps of intuition.

    If you want to present work, it’s first-come, first serve for sign ups when doors open.

  • Photo Saloon centers cis and trans women, nonbinary, genderqueer, transmasculine, and gender-expansive artists at our Show & Tell gatherings. We ask all attendees to arrive with care for this focus.

    For other parts of our programming, like artist talks, exhibitions, or newsletter features, the larger community is welcome to join and uplift the work.

  • Photo Saloon was created with the belief that spaces cultivated by and for women and gender expansive artists are vital offering room for creative risk, honesty, and collective growth.

    As such, our core gathering, Show & Tell, is intentionally created for cis and trans women, nonbinary, transmasculine, gender queer, and gender expansive artists.

    The larger community is welcome to subscribe to our newsletter and attend exhibitions, artist talks, and other public events hosted by Photo Saloon.

  • Yes. Photo Saloon welcomes photographers at all stages, from folks just starting to long-time practitioners.

  • As a community-based project, we ask for a $15–$20 sliding scale. A Venmo/QR code will be available at the event.

  • If you choose to show work, we recommend bringing 8–15 physical prints to put on the table for feedback. Zines, books, and other physical photo mediums are also welcome.

  • We hope to make Photo Saloon gatherings as welcoming and accessible as possible.

    Participation Notes

    • Photo sharing is optional. Not everyone needs to speak or present.

    • If you have accommodations (e.g., seating preferences, mobility needs, additional support), please contact us ahead of time.
