Meaghan, San Francisco from Bay Area Queer Portrait series
2026
This portrait of Meaghan from San Francisco is the beginning of a series I am creating of queer women, nonbinary, and trans people of the Bay area. My goal is to connect with more queer people as well as bring about much needed representation and documentation. The fact that I am using large format black and white film is also significant in that the realm of large format tends to be straight cis-gender male dominated. Each participant is given a darkroom print of their portrait created by me as a gift for their willingness to be a part of this project. In this way, we facilitate a capital-free exchange of the artwork which we jointly created in spirit together. Artwork which can then be shared freely and accessibly with the greater society in order to bring about gender and sexual identity equality.
